Giving Yourself What You Need - How Taking Small Steps Makes All the Difference

Ever since it was eclipsed by a fast growing oak tree this rose bush has produced one, maybe two flowers per year for the past six years.

It struggled.

But this year it’s flourishing.

The oak tree came down & the rose is basking in sunlight all day long.

It’s getting what it needs…& it shows!

It got me thinking…

Where are you struggling? Where are you not getting enough “sunlight”?

Ok so maybe it’s not sunlight, but maybe you’re not getting enough sleep?

Or exercise? Or downtime? Or connection?

Our rose was a spindly shell of itself when it wasn’t getting sun. What does it look like for you?

Maybe you’re exhausted & slogging through your day.

Do you find that you just don’t have the patience for anyone or anything including you?!

You want to have quality girlfriend time, but you just don’t have the energy to keep friendships going?

You wish you could be more present with your kids, but you’re completely in your head as they try to explain the video game they’re into right now & miss the whole interaction?

This is what struggling looks like.

This is what happens when you don’t take care of you.

Women feeling exhausted is common in our society so it seems normal-inevitable.

Except that it’s not normal or inevitable!

We’re just bombarded from an early age that women just keep giving, going, & doing. We’re the glue that holds everything together until the glue cracks.

So today I challenge you to use the rose as an example...

Think about what you need & find ways to give it to yourself-even if it’s in small quantities.

If you need more rest, maybe give yourself 10 minutes outside with no tech.

If it’s connection that you’re craving maybe send a text to let her know you’re thinking of her.

Simple. Small. Doable.

Try it & let me know if it makes a difference.

I’d love to hear.

xo,

Jen
